Who is eligible

C²TC is open to all NC State instructional faculty, including tenure-track, professional-track, and part-time faculty. Graduate students with teaching responsibilities are also eligible to apply.

No certificate has a prerequisite during the pilot. CWSP has waived the Core Teaching Certificate (CTC) requirement for pilot participants.

What applying does

There is no selection process. The application registers you with CWSP, so that we know which certificate you are working on, can send you cohort session dates, and can process the $500 mini-grant for beta participants. The form asks for your Faculty ID and your department head for that payment. Every workbook is open now, so you can start today, before or after you apply.

Beta participants in the first cohort are eligible for a $500 mini-grant to work with the CWSP co-directors on curriculum development and program refinement. The mini-grant adds one meeting per semester. You also have the option to help write elective or capstone materials.

Choosing your certificate

Apply for one certificate, several, or all three at once. If you are unsure where to start, choose Written Communication, which prepares you well for the others. The Digital Communication certificate suits faculty who already assign digital work. The Oral Communication certificate is in development. Early applicants go on a waitlist, and CWSP will notify them when the modules open.

Application form

The application takes about 5 minutes. The form asks for your name, department, faculty status, Faculty ID and department head (for the mini-grant payment), the certificate or certificates you plan to start, and a short statement (2 to 3 sentences) on what you hope to gain from the program.

The form requires an NC State Google sign-in. Check “Send me a copy of my responses” at the end to keep a record.
