Written and Oral Literacy Facilitation
WOLF is the NC State Campus Writing and Speaking Program's model for building writing and speaking into a curriculum. It works with departments, programs, and colleges, and with groups of faculty who teach related courses within a curriculum.
Get started with WOLFWhat is WOLF
A structured partnership between CWSP and your department
WOLF pairs a department with CWSP to see where its curriculum teaches writing and speaking, set outcomes for each level, and gather evidence that students meet them. The work runs in three stages over two to three years, at the department's own pace.
Phase 01
Inquiry
Gather syllabi and survey faculty and students to see where writing and speaking are taught now, and where they are missing.
Phase 02
Design
Write the discipline's writing and speaking outcomes by level, map them to courses, and assemble the Writing and Speaking Curriculum Plan for the chair to approve.
Phase 03
Evidence
Collect student work against the plan, adapt CWSP's rubrics to the discipline, and complete CWSP certification.
Who WOLF is for
Designed for departments, programs, and colleges
WOLF works at the scale you choose. Most engagements serve a department, a degree program, or a college. Faculty who teach related courses can also take part as a group.
Build writing and speaking into a curriculum
Choose up to three faculty as department liaisons, work through the three stages with CWSP, and earn CWSP certification. Each liaison receives $1,000.

Faculty who teach related courses in a curriculum, such as a course sequence or a shared requirement, work with CWSP through the same three stages to set outcomes across those courses and gather evidence of student growth.

C²TC Communication Teaching Certificate
Faculty who want to study communication pedagogy further earn a certificate through C²TC, CWSP's self-paced professional development program. Three certificate tracks cover written, digital, and oral communication instruction. Each track pairs research-based frameworks with your own course materials.
Writing transfer, feedback, and discipline-specific instruction
Three core modules covering writing transfer theory, evidence-based feedback strategies, and genre-based assignment design using the DAPOE framework.
Multimodal pedagogy, digital assignment design, and assessment
Frameworks for teaching and assessing digital genres, including accessibility requirements, tool selection, and portfolio approaches to digital learning.
Public speaking instruction and assessment across disciplines
In development. Covers communication apprehension, disciplinary speaking conventions, and rubric design for oral performance.
