Who is eligible

C²TC is open to all NC State instructional faculty, including tenure-track, professional-track, and part-time faculty. Graduate students with teaching responsibilities are also eligible to apply.

There is no prerequisite for the Written Communication, Digital Communication, or Oral Communication certificates. (The Core Teaching Certificate (CTC) is listed as a prerequisite in some program materials — this requirement is currently waived for pilot participants.)

What to expect after applying

Once you submit the application form, you will receive a confirmation email. Participants are notified of acceptance and provided workbook access within one week of submitting. Most participants are accepted on a rolling basis; there is no competitive review.

Beta participants — those who apply before Spring 2026 cohort closes — are eligible for a $500 mini-grant to collaborate directly with CWSP co-directors on curriculum development and program refinement. Mini-grant participation involves one additional meeting per semester and optional co-development of elective or capstone materials.

Choosing your certificate

You can apply for one certificate, multiple certificates, or all three at once. If you are unsure which to start with, the Written Communication certificate is the most developed and is a strong foundation for the others. The Digital Communication certificate is a natural companion for faculty already integrating digital assignments. The Oral Communication certificate is in development — early applicants will be added to the waitlist and notified when modules are available.
